Academician of the Eurasian Academy of Sciences, Director of the Institute of Chinese Materia Medica, China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, and Director of the World Health Organization Traditional Medicine Cooperation Center. Vice Chairman of CGCM (Globalization Alliance of Chinese Medicine). He used to be the director of the Institute of Medicinal Plants of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and a visiting professor at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is currently a visiting professor at Tokyo Pharmaceutical University, a part-time chair professor at the University of Macau, director of the National Engineering Laboratory of "Endangered Medicinal Materials Breeding", chairman of the Chinese Medicine and Natural Medicine Professional Committee of the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association, and a member of the U.S. Pharmacopoeia Traditional Chinese Medicine Advisory Group.
